What you can expect during your visit to The Sewickley Spa... Your visit with us should be a time of relaxation and comfort, dedicated to your well being and peace of mind. We know that many of our clients have questions they'd like to ask before coming in to the spa, so we've provided answers to the most frequently asked questions below. What are the Spa's hours?
- We are open from 9:00am until 7:00 pm, Tuesday through Thursday and 9:00am until 6:00pm Friday and Saturday.
The spa can be booked for private parties, in advance, during non listed hours.
I have never had a massage before. I'm a little concerned?
Many of our guests are concerned before their first massage, because it's a new experience. This is a positive, pampering experience designed for your comfort. No personal body parts are ever exposed during any massage treatments. Our staff are all extensively trained to work on all body types. Please do not be concerned with size, shape or health considerations. Once the massage begins, clients relax and enjoy the benefits immensely.
Is the clientele mostly women, or mixed gender?
Our clientele is predominantly women, but we do have male clients. You will see male and female staffers. If you have a preference for a male or female technician, please request this when scheduling, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
What do I wear while at the Spa?
We provide all of our guests a comfortable, overflowing robe, comfortable slippers, and a wrap to wear underneath the robe. We ask you to remove all jewelry during some treatments. Make-up will be removed before any facial treatments. If you are using the steam room at the Wisp location, your robe and a towel will be adequate, but bathing suits are also acceptable.
How should I prepare for my Spa experience?
This is a great question. Wear comfortable clothes, unless you're going to a special event afterwards. Don't wear any jewelry. If you're going to have a pedicure, wear sandals or other open-toed footwear. If you have a pager or cell phone, we ask you to turn them off when you arrive. If you need to be reached during your treatments, please let the receptionist know you are expecting a call.
What about gratuities?
Our gift certificates and prices do not include gratuities for the staff. Our technicians graciously accept cash or checks made out to them, but gratuity cannot be added to a credit card. We have made envelopes available at the reception desk for your convenience. For those who wish an average amount, based on the cost of the packages, we have found that $25 to $40 is the range that most guests have determined adequate. 18% to 20% of single services is the average. However, your gratuity is a personal matter and should reflect your satisfaction with your services.
I have really sensitive skin. I'm concerned about the products and treatments?
Before we begin your Spa experience, we discuss any special sensitivities or needs you may have. We have a range of options we rely on to accommodate our guests, including specialties for sensitive skin, acneic skin, age spots, discoloration and pigmented skin tones. Our products are custom made, using the finest ingredients with no animal testing. Most Sewickley Spa products can only be sold by licensed professional skin care technicians. All of our skin care products are available for at home use, and can be shipped anywhere in the world.
Who will be performing my treatments?
All Spa technicians are certified or licensed according to Pennsylvania and Maryland state law. All staff are also put through our own internal training program before they interact with clients. Many of our staff have International training, far exceeding local and regional expectations.
Are refreshments available?
Herbal teas, juices, cookies, fruits, pastries and water with lemon are yours for the asking at all times, with our compliments.
Who recognizes The Sewickley Spa?
The Sewickley Spa is a licensed facility, examined routinely by County and State inspectors. We have maintained an impeccable record for sanitation, sterilization, and correct procedures. The Sewickley Spa has been voted 'Best Day Spa' for the past several years in most every reader poll. We have also been recognized as 'Top 100 Fastest Growing Business' in the Western Pa area, every year since 2001. The owner, Dorothy Andreas, has been recognized by Governor Ed Rendell as 'Best 50 Women in Business' in 2003. In August 2003, The Sewickley Spa got the coveted cover story in Spa Management Magazine, for an outstanding business model. The Sewickley Spa is a member of ISPA, International Spa Association, Impeccable standing with The Better Business Bureau, Sewickley, Ligonier, and Garrett County Chambers of Commerce, as well as Women Presidents Organization.
